    Description

    Vintage
1909 Fredericksburg VA RYERSON, family note MEMORY OF GRANDMOTHER RICE
    Original item.
The two papers have the same handwritten poem, "In Loving remembrance of Our Grand Mother Mrs M.F. Rice, who died Nov 28th 1904"; "by her Grand daughter Mrs. O.M. Ryerson". One paper is dated Nov 30th 1909. The note is on stationery for E.V. Ryerson, a grocery dealer in Fredericksburg and the husband of Mrs. O.M. Ryerson.
The writer of the note would be Olive Mary Ryerson, daughter of Frances B. Rice Newton; Mrs. Ryerson was the grand daughter of Samuel B. Rice and  Mary Frances Arnold Rice (d. Nov 1904 King George co., VA).
Mrs. Ryerson may have intended sending this to a Fredericksburg VA newspaper. Wish I could say for sure. This paper and the postcard were found in a 1983 cookbook (see the auction for the Fredericksburg area cookbook, which has some nice area history articles in it).
The postcard included with these papers was sent to Mrs. Ryerson in 1915 from a friend.
I don't have any other Ryerson items.
The items have some wear / tear / stains
