David James operated a General Store in Montfort Wisconsin c,1900-20. Montfort is a small town on HWY 18 which is the Old Military Road from Green Bay to Prairie du Chien Wisconsin. It was built on mining lead and farming. It was the site of a Fort during the 1832 Black Hawk War. It is now the site of a seed corn and pop corn business and a wind farm. I also have his Ledger Book(s).
    These are some of the
bills he received from various companies from across the country but mainly Madison Milwaukee and Chicago. The Bills tell stories like the need for goose feathers and Candy. An opportunity to share part of that story.
