Presented here is a beautiful original antique baby Christening gown. This is handmade of fine cotton with a natural weave. The bodice is embellished front and back with micro pin tuck pleats worked vertically with narrow rows of white-work embroidery in between. It has a dainty  3/4" wide collar with embroidery at the neck,  a narrow finely gather insert of cotton, edged with dainty lace.The long sleeves have fine full gathers on the shoulder, the cuffs have horizontal rows of tiny pin tucks and embroidery with woven lace cuffs. The skirt is long and full with pin tucks at the hem, it has a 3 3/4" wide double hem. The gown opens in the back, closes with two mother-of-pearl buttons. Excellent antique condition, clean, sturdy, no stains, no tears, no notable damage. Very finely hand-made in Victorian fashion, French seams, narrow binding around the arms. Exquisite!
